Partnership is one of the most powerful mirrors of our inner world. Astrology offers precise tools to understand how we enter into relationships, what kind of partners we attract, and how these bonds evolve over time. From the symbolism of the 7th House to the deeper layers of synastry and modalities, we can uncover both the structure and the mystery of our shared journey with another.
The Image of Partnership
7th House. The theme of relationships and partnership in astrology is symbolized by the 7th House, also known as the Descendant. This part of the natal chart stands in opposition to our personality (the Ascendant or Rising sign). And here lies a profound symbolic meaning (and astrological explanation of the well-known saying “Opposites attract”).
By analyzing the 7th House, its sign, the planets in the house, and the position of its ruler, we can understand both the general character and rhythm of relationships in our lives, as well as the ideal image of our partner and partnership in general, and also what kind of partner we ourselves will be. One can also see a certain context in which the emergence of partnerships is most likely (which is very relevant for those who are searching for their other half).
For example, the connection of Uranus with the 7th House will give sudden, abrupt relationships that do not fit into any social norms. And until a person understands this and learns to work with these energies, it will be difficult for them to count on long and stable relationships. A harmonious 7th House with a strongly expressed Moon, on the contrary, will give a gentle and caring partner.
Venus. The second important significator of relationships in the chart is Venus. Venus symbolizes our sensual perception, aesthetic preferences, and ways of expressing love. A fiery Venus will give a passionate lover, while a watery one — a poetic/sensitive romantic. But note that Venus never symbolizes relationships as a whole and is not used in prognostics (unless it has a direct connection to your 7th House). To interpret partnerships through Venus is a serious but, unfortunately, popular mistake of mainstream astrology. Venus shows what and how you feel, which is undoubtedly a significant factor in relationships. But it does not account for the actual manifestations of partnership in our lives.
Paired Interactions
Paired interactions are based on the three things: our individual modalities and their interconnection, synastry charts that show our partnership dynamic and couple egregore.
Modalities in communication. In Multimodal Astrology, we use the concept of default modalities. These are certain manifestations of archetypes and behavioral patterns inherent to us by default. They determine not only our style of behavior in specific situations but also our way of perceiving the world. In addition to supporting modalities, there are also problematic ones — that is, those behavioral styles that, for certain reasons, cause us discomfort, pain, and even aggression. The main difficulty lies in the fact that different people have different supporting and problematic modalities. Synastry shows exactly how our habitual modalities align with one another and where they diverge. One of the most effective ways to improve paired interaction is to work with the modalities of the partner.
Synastry. In astrology, there is a classical method of determining pair compatibility — synastric astrology. We overlay two charts on top of each other and analyze how they align. In certain places, we will see points of contact where planets stand next to each other. This creates that very magnetism and commonality of views that draw people to one another. In other places, the planets may, on the contrary, stand in opposite signs, which will create tension and conflict. But on a high level of development, this same aspect has a rich potential for cooperation and mutual growth. Synastry shows the main dynamics of paired relationships, areas of compatibility, and points of friction.

Mystical Union
The paired egregore. An important concept from the mystical tradition is the angel of relationships. This is the transpersonal program that unites two independent people into one couple. One can communicate with the paired egregore, and so on, and so forth.

Problem-solving
Long-lasting issues often come from friction between your core modalities and personality traits. These tensions are usually written directly into the synastry chart. The key is hidden there — in the planetary dialogues between your maps.
Sudden problems, however, usually come from the transits: a certain planet may temporarily activate sensitive points in both of your charts, shaking the ground beneath you. Recognizing these moments helps you distinguish between structural issues and passing storms.
Prognostics. The theme of partnerships, like any other significant part of our lives, is subject to astrological forecasting. With the help of basic prognostic methods, one can see the main rhythm of the development of this theme: accented periods of time where the emergence of reliable partnerships is most likely; favorable periods and tense, crisis moments. But the author adheres to the position that all truly important relationships are sent by God (or conditioned by karma — whichever one prefers), which significantly complicates astrological forecasts.
