If a certain theme or idea is significant in your life, then its opposite is equally significant for your psyche. Even if you are not aware of that. We call such important topics — personal archetypes.
Personal example
My personal Archetype is “Understanding”. It has been following me since childhood. All the situations around Understanding or Misunderstanding trigger me a lot. Astrologically, it’s symbolised by the conjunction of Mercury and Pluto squared to Saturn. And since it’s all in Scorpio, sometimes someone’s misunderstanding can trigger bursts of anger in me.
Recently, I had a long and complex session with a client. We delved into personal archetypes and tried to slightly touch quite deep layers of the psyche, the very essence of existence. At some point, I began to feel nauseous and dizzy – similar to the first hours of an Ayahuasca ceremony. I knew: that Neptune kicked in, and with it, Uranus should be activated as well (they stand conjunct in my chart). Insight was on the horizon.
Boom! Insight struck. I saw a very important thing in the client’s chart, something I hadn’t noticed before. I UNDERSTOOD! Right at the end of the session, I started to feel terribly dumb, unable to grasp the client’s questions. I had to ask them to repeat several times. The moment of Understanding is followed by the opposite archetype of Misunderstanding and dimness.
Conclusion
This case illustrates how archetypes always come in pairs. Sometimes they can switch within an hour, and sometimes they can persist for years. When it comes to archetypes of the sacral level of the psyche, our life unfolds between these two polarities, leaning towards one or the other. The exploration of both archetypes and their interrelations provides the key to fulfilling our life mission. But that’s a long conversation…
